Punjab Launches 'Agriculture Lab on Wheels' in 15 Districts
Punjab's Mobile Agri Labs to Aid Farmers

In a major push to modernize farming, the Punjab government has rolled out a novel 'Agriculture Lab on Wheels' program. The initiative, ordered by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is designed to deliver critical agricultural services directly to farmers' fields.

Mobile Labs Bring Science to the Doorstep

The first phase will see these specialized mobile laboratories deployed across 15 districts of Punjab. Their primary function will be to conduct immediate, on-site soil and water testing. This will provide growers with instant, reliable analysis of their land's fertility and water quality, data crucial for making smart farming choices.

Officials state that this direct access to scientific analysis will empower farmers to make informed decisions about crop selection, fertilizer application, and irrigation. The expected outcomes are a significant boost in productivity and a reduction in unnecessary input costs.

Central Control & Container Hubs for Support

To ensure the initiative runs smoothly, a central control room will be established. This hub will monitor the operations of all mobile labs in real-time, promoting efficiency, transparency, and timely service. The system will also help quickly identify field-level issues and improve coordination between experts and farmers.

In a complementary move, the government has approved setting up 100 container-based farmer facilitation centres across all districts. These local hubs will be equipped with data call facilities, digital tools, and stationed agriculture officers. They will offer technical guidance, advisory services, and prompt solutions for problems related to modern techniques, pest management, and crop diseases.

Aiming for Record Yields & Farmer Empowerment

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that this initiative reflects her government's commitment to creating a more efficient, farmer-friendly, and technology-driven agricultural sector. "By providing immediate and accurate agricultural information at the doorstep, we are empowering farmers to take timely and informed decisions," she said.

She expressed confidence that these measures would contribute to a record wheat yield in the current season. The CM also noted that the 'Lab on Wheels' program works alongside other farmer-centric schemes like the Kissan Card and tractor support programs, underlining a comprehensive strategy to strengthen agriculture, enhance food security, and improve livelihoods.

The integration of digital technology with field-level expertise aims to bridge the longstanding gap between agricultural research and the farmers who need it most.
