Sukkur Heatwave Relief Efforts Intensified at 48-49°C

SUKKUR - With temperatures soaring to 48-49°C amid the ongoing severe heatwave, emergency relief measures have been intensified across Sukkur to provide immediate assistance to citizens. Mayor of Sukkur and Sindh Government Spokesperson Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh on Thursday directed all relevant departments to ensure timely and effective delivery of public relief services.

Heatwave Relief Camps Established

“Heatwave relief camps have already been established at key locations across the city, while the installation of additional camps is being expedited to ensure maximum public access,” Barrister Arsalan Islam Shaikh stated. He said the relief camps are equipped with essential medical and support facilities, including ORS, cold drinks, and chilled water, to mitigate heatwave effects.

Free Umbrellas for Laborers

On the Mayor’s directives, the Sukkur Municipal Corporation has also begun distributing free umbrellas to laborers, enabling daily wage earners to continue work under extreme conditions. An initial survey has identified approximately 4,000 laborers who will receive umbrellas in phases. Town Municipal Chairmen and Councilors have been instructed to identify deserving individuals in their respective Union Councils to ensure transparent and targeted distribution.
