Punjab Assembly Approves Rs270.5 Billion in Demands for Grants
The Punjab Assembly on Wednesday approved demands for grants totaling Rs270.5 billion as the provincial government defended its budget proposals. The approval came after a detailed debate on the budget, with government representatives outlining the allocations for various sectors.
Government Defends Budget Allocations
During the session, Provincial Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht presented the government's case, emphasizing that the budget was designed to promote economic growth and social welfare. The minister highlighted that the budget includes significant funds for education, health, and infrastructure development.

Key Allocations in the Budget
The approved demands for grants include Rs50 billion for the education sector, Rs45 billion for health, and Rs30 billion for roads and infrastructure. Additionally, Rs20 billion has been set aside for agriculture development, and Rs15 billion for law and order. The government also allocated Rs10 billion for special initiatives in southern Punjab.
Fiscal Strategy and Revenue Targets
The government defended its fiscal strategy, stating that it aims to increase provincial revenue through better tax collection and public-private partnerships. The finance minister assured the house that the budget deficit would be kept within limits and that the government would ensure efficient utilization of funds.
