City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has uncovered a startling case of traffic violations during a general hold-up campaign. When ownership verification of a motorcycle was conducted, it revealed that a citizen was registered as the owner of 421 vehicles, including cars, rickshaws, and motorcycles.

Discovery During Routine Check

According to a spokesperson, traffic wardens stopped a motorcyclist during the operation and initiated a routine ownership check. This led to the surprising discovery that a citizen identified as Baz Muhammad was listed in official records as the owner of 421 vehicles.

Outstanding Fines and Legal Action

The spokesperson said that further scrutiny revealed that e-challan fines amounting to more than Rs2.088 million were pending against the vehicles registered in his name. The motorcycle was subsequently impounded and shifted to Muslim Town Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi directed officials to further accelerate action against e-challan defaulters and traffic law violators across the city. He said that outstanding e-challans worth millions of rupees posed a significant challenge for the authorities and emphasised the need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations.

Expanded Investigations

The CTO said that the scope of investigations into suspicious and potentially fraudulent vehicle registrations in Lahore had been expanded to identify those responsible. He said that all individuals involved in traffic violations should clear their outstanding dues and comply with traffic laws to avoid legal action.

The development comes as the city administration pushes for timely completion of development projects and stricter adherence to traffic rules.
