Omani and Belarusian companies have signed seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) focusing on food security, artificial intelligence (AI), and smart city technologies. The agreements were finalized during the Oman-Belarus Business Forum held in Minsk on June 3, 2026, as reported by the Oman News Agency (ONA).
Key Areas of Cooperation
The MoUs cover a range of sectors including AI applications for water, agriculture, and soil management. Additionally, they address knowledge transfer, joint packaging, and manufacturing cooperation. Urban planning infrastructure and geographic information systems were also part of the agreements, according to ONA.
Trade and Investment Figures
Total trade between Oman and Belarus reached approximately 374,000 Omani rials ($974,808) in 2025. Meanwhile, Belarusian investments in Oman stood at around 1.2 million rials across various sectors, as reported by ONA in April 2026.
Oman's Commitment to Food Security
Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Saud bin Hamoud Al-Habsi, emphasized the Sultanate's focus on strengthening investment in food security through a strategic investment program. He noted that 493 investment projects with a total value of 1.8 billion rials were implemented under the program during the Tenth Five-Year Plan. Al-Habsi called for expanded technical and investment collaboration between the two countries to support food security and strengthen bilateral partnership.
Belarusian Perspectives
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov highlighted the joint action plan between the two nations and the implementation steps following reciprocal visits by their leaders. He pointed to opportunities to expand cooperation into petrochemicals, trade, infrastructure, and logistics. Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov underscored the importance of Oman-Belarus relations, particularly with the commencement of exports of various Belarusian agricultural products to Oman. He praised Oman’s competitive advantages and the high quality of Omani products participating in the ‘Belagro 2026’ exhibition in Minsk.
Private Sector Engagement
Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), Faisal bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, stated that the forum reflects a shared commitment to transforming bilateral relations into practical economic partnerships. He noted that Oman’s strategic location, advanced infrastructure, integrated logistics capabilities, and attractive investment environment complement Belarus’s expertise in industrial, technological, and engineering sectors. Al-Rawas added that OCCI remains committed to supporting business communities and facilitating partnerships for sustainable economic growth.
Director General of the National Export Promotion Center of Belarus, Mikalai Barysevich, stressed the importance of the forum in opening new horizons for trade partnerships between Omani and Belarusian companies.
