Prime Minister's Vision for Revitalized PIA

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed strong confidence in the Arif Habib Consortium's ability to transform the national airline. "Through their untiring efforts, I am confident the consortium will take PIA to new heights by providing the best travel facilities to our people," stated the Prime Minister.

He emphasized that passenger comfort, respect, dignity, and safety must remain the top priorities for the new administration. The Prime Minister outlined specific expectations for improvement across multiple operational areas including punctuality, cabin services, information systems, and ground services - all to be delivered with enhanced professionalism and courteous customer service.

Investment Structure and Financial Implications

Arif Habib, speaking as the new custodian of PIA, revealed important details about the investment structure. The entire privatization is based on one hundred percent equity investment, with a total transaction value of 180 billion rupees. Out of this substantial amount, 55 billion rupees will be transferred to the government treasury, while the remaining 125 billion rupees will be directly invested in PIA's development and modernization.

Positive Implications for Pakistan's Business Environment

Arif Habib highlighted the broader significance of this transaction for Pakistan's economic ecosystem. "The involvement of local entrepreneurs in PIA's privatization reflects a positive business environment in the country," he remarked, suggesting that this move could encourage further domestic investment in strategic sectors.

The business leader assured that the people of Pakistan would be the primary beneficiaries of this privatization. He committed to substantial improvements in airline services and announced plans for acquiring new aircraft to modernize PIA's fleet, potentially enhancing both domestic and international travel experiences for Pakistani passengers.
