SCCI President Leads Delegation to MIDC and IST Sialkot to Foster Industry Partnerships
In a significant move to strengthen ties between industry and educational institutions, Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, President of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), spearheaded a high-profile visit to the Metal Industries Development Centre (MIDC) and the Institute of Surgical Technology (IST) in Sialkot. Accompanied by Sheikh Amir Mehmood, Executive Committee Member of SCCI, and Brig Dr Shahid, a Medical Specialist from Imran Idrees Hospital Sialkot, the delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour aimed at promoting collaboration and technological advancement.
Detailed Inspection of MIDC Workshops and Common Facility Services
The delegation conducted an extensive review of all workshops at the MIDC, where they received detailed briefings on the Common Facility Services (CFS). This initiative is designed to provide shared resources and support for local industries, enhancing efficiency and innovation. During the visit, the team closely observed the operational processes in key areas, including the Comprehensive Machine Shop, Forging workshop, Vaccum heat treatment workshop CBHT, and welding workshop. These observations highlighted the centre's advanced capabilities and its potential to serve as a hub for industrial development in the region.
Engagement with Students at Institute of Surgical Technology
Following the MIDC tour, the delegation proceeded to the Institute of Surgical Technology (IST) Sialkot, where they visited all classrooms and engaged directly with students. The interaction focused on appreciating the learning activities and hands-on training provided at the institute. Syed Ahtesham Mazhar expressed admiration for the students' dedication and the quality of education, emphasizing the importance of such institutions in nurturing skilled professionals for the healthcare and surgical sectors.
