KE Hosts Customer Camp in Korangi, Addresses PKR 740M Dues
KE's Korangi Camp Tackles PKR 740M Electricity Dues

In a significant move to bridge the gap with its consumers, K-Electric (KE) recently set up a special Customer Facilitation Camp and held an open forum, or Khuli Kachahri, in the Abdullah Shah Noorani Basti locality of Korangi. This initiative is a core part of the power utility's ongoing strategy to engage directly with communities and address their electricity-related concerns on their doorstep.

On-the-Ground Support for Residents

The camp witnessed a robust turnout from local residents who sought assistance with a range of issues. KE teams provided dedicated guidance on bill payments, verified customer accounts, and processed applications for new electricity connections. A major focus was also on public awareness, with experts sharing crucial information on the importance of safe internal wiring and the severe dangers associated with illegal power connections, known as kunda. To ease financial burdens, the utility also presented flexible payment plans to help customers settle their outstanding dues.

Leadership Engagement and Community Trust

Sadia Dada, KE’s Chief Distribution and Marcomms Officer, personally visited the camp to assess the proceedings. She interacted directly with customers to understand their challenges and also met with field teams to review the efforts being made to improve services in the area. Emphasizing the broader vision, Dada stated, "Our goal is to bring KE’s services closer to our customers, right where they live." She added that these camps are not merely for query resolution but are fundamental to building trust, listening to community feedback, and collaboratively working towards a safer and more reliable electrical network. A central pillar of this engagement is the drive for zero electrocution incidents and promoting responsible electricity consumption.

Tackling Persistent Challenges in Korangi

The Korangi area presents considerable challenges for the power distributor. The persistence of extensive illegal connection networks continues to cause significant technical and financial losses. The locality has accumulated outstanding dues exceeding a staggering PKR 740 million, with monthly losses surpassing 80,000 units. Initiatives like this facilitation camp are critical in KE's strategy to foster collaboration with affected communities, encourage a shift towards regularized electricity use, and ultimately enhance public safety for all residents.

This effort in Korangi is not an isolated event. Since July 2025, KE has organized more than 50 such facilitation camps across various parts of Karachi, including areas like North Karachi, Johar, Clifton, Malir, and SITE. These camps have become a vital component of KE's customer outreach, creating direct communication channels and promoting a culture of timely payments and legal connections.
