Drug Convicts Get 9-Year Sentences from CNSA Court

A Control of Narcotics Substances Act (CNSA) court on Wednesday sentenced two drug convicts to nine years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 100,000 on each. The convicts, identified as Shafqat Ali and Naveed Ahmed, were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in a raid conducted last year.

Details of the Case

The ANF team recovered a significant quantity of heroin and hashish from their possession during the operation. The court found them guilty under sections of the CNSA Act, which carries strict penalties for drug trafficking and possession. The judge remarked that drug offenses are a menace to society and must be dealt with severely.

Sentencing and Fine

In addition to the prison term, the court ordered the confiscation of their property and directed the authorities to ensure the sentence is served consecutively. The convicts have the right to appeal the decision in a higher court within 30 days. The ANF officials expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating it would serve as a deterrent for others involved in illegal drug activities.
