Elon Musk Becomes World's First Trillionaire After SpaceX IPO

Elon Musk's net worth has officially crossed the trillion-dollar mark following SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO). Prior to the IPO, Musk's net worth hovered around $800 billion. His current wealth includes the value of his 4.8 billion shares in SpaceX, along with his holdings in other companies such as Tesla.

SpaceX IPO Drives Musk to Trillionaire Status

Shares of SpaceX, trading under the ticker SPCX, opened at $150 and have remained well above the $138 benchmark that grants Musk a 13-figure net worth. Earlier this year, SpaceX merged Musk's rocket, artificial intelligence, and social media platforms. In its S-1 filing, the company stated its goal is to "build the systems and technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, to understand the true nature of the universe, and to extend the light of consciousness to the stars." SpaceX also claims that this combination uniquely positions it to deliver on "orbital AI compute" by deploying AI data center servers in space using reusable rockets.

Musk's Wealth Compared to Other Billionaires

On paper, Musk is now worth roughly as much as the next four wealthiest people in the world combined. According to Forbes, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, Jeff Bezos, and Larry Ellison together have a net worth just over $1 trillion. Bezos and Ellison each possess less than a quarter of Musk's net worth. Musk's achievement of crossing the $1 trillion mark comes 110 years after John D. Rockefeller became the world's first billionaire in 1916.
