The Sindh government has decided to establish a dedicated one-window facilitation desk at New Sabzi Mandi to provide streamlined services to transporters. The Transport and Mass Transit Department has issued directives to the relevant authorities for the immediate implementation of this initiative.
The decision was approved during an important meeting of the transport department, where officials agreed to set up a facilitation desk aimed at providing all essential services to transporters under one roof. Senior Sindh Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stated that the one-window facilitation desk at New Sabzi Mandi would enable freight and commercial vehicle operators arriving in Karachi to obtain and renew route permits, fitness certificates, and other necessary documents at a single location.
This move is expected to significantly reduce the time and effort required for transporters to complete bureaucratic procedures, thereby enhancing efficiency in the transportation sector. The initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to improve service delivery and facilitate business operations in the province.
The facilitation desk will be staffed with trained personnel to assist transporters with their queries and documentation. It will also feature digital systems to expedite the processing of applications and renewals. The Sindh government has emphasized its commitment to supporting the transport industry, which plays a vital role in the economy of Karachi and the province.
Transporters have welcomed the decision, expressing hope that it will eliminate the need to visit multiple offices for different permits and certificates. The move is also expected to reduce corruption and delays associated with manual processes. The government has assured that the desk will be operational within weeks, with a focus on transparency and accountability.
