Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has commended the successful organization of the Pakistan Rice Festival 2026 in the Netherlands, emphasizing that such international trade events are pivotal for promoting exports and expanding access to new markets. The festival, held under the theme "From Pakistan's Fields to Europe's Tables," attracted more than 100 importers, retailers, food industry experts, and business leaders from across Europe. This turnout reflects growing international confidence in Pakistan's agricultural products, according to the commerce ministry.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah, noted that Pakistani basmati rice is now exported to over 100 countries worldwide. He attributed its popularity to its distinctive aroma, long grain, and excellent cooking qualities, which have made it increasingly favored among global consumers. The ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to ensuring quality, sustainability, traceability, and full compliance with international food safety standards.
Geographical Indication and Heritage
Pakistani basmati is a distinctive brand protected through Geographical Indication, representing centuries of agricultural heritage. This protection ensures the unique identity and quality of the rice, which is a key export commodity for Pakistan.
Bilateral Trade with the Netherlands
Bilateral trade between Pakistan and the Netherlands has reached approximately $1.94 billion. Over 50 Dutch companies are actively engaged in business activities across various sectors in Pakistan, highlighting strong economic ties between the two nations.

The Food Exhibition 2026, scheduled to take place in Karachi from November 23-26, was highlighted as Pakistan's next major trade milestone. This event is expected to further boost export opportunities and showcase Pakistani products to international buyers.
