Saudi Arabia achieved a historic milestone in date exports in 2025, with their value reaching SR1.938 billion ($517 million). This represents a 14.3 percent increase compared to 2024 and a significant 59.5 percent surge since 2021, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report on April 25, 2026.
Record Growth Driven by Global Demand
The record growth highlights the rising global demand for Saudi dates and the sector's enhanced production efficiency. The milestone directly supports the objectives of Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the national economy and increase the agricultural sector's contribution to the gross domestic product.
Leadership and Collaboration Key to Success
Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, who also serves as chairman of the National Center for Palms and Dates, attributed this success to the leadership's support and effective public-private collaboration. He noted that initiatives to empower Saudi date exports have been instrumental in expanding market reach.
Expanding Global Presence
Currently, the Kingdom exports unique date varieties to more than 125 countries, maintaining a competitive edge through high-quality standards. In 2025, production volume exceeded 1.9 million tonnes from more than 37 million palm trees, underscoring the sector's robust growth and efficiency.
This achievement marks a significant step forward in Saudi Arabia's agricultural and economic diversification efforts, positioning the country as a global leader in date production and export.
