Pakistan's Environmental Challenges and Need for Action
Pakistan's Environmental Challenges and Need for Action

After reading Aisha Khan's article on climate change, I would like to draw attention to the current environmental situation. Without a doubt, the Earth today is more fragile than it was 50 years ago. The world has negotiated more than 250 multilateral environmental agreements, many of which appear ideal on paper but have either not been implemented or have seen little meaningful action towards their enforcement.

Pakistan's Responsibility

Pakistan also bears significant responsibility in this regard. Although the country's forest cover is only around 5 to 5.5 per cent and mountainous terrain accounts for approximately 60 to 65 per cent of its land area, we continue to face serious challenges such as air pollution, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss due to environmental degradation.

Preserving for Future Generations

Therefore, it is essential to address these issues so that we can preserve the Earth and its natural resources for future generations and create a more environmentally sustainable world.
