Case Filed Against Doctor Over Woman, Newborn Deaths in Dijkot

Police have registered a case against a lady doctor and the management of a private hospital in Dijkot following the deaths of a woman and her newborn daughter during a delivery procedure two months ago.

Complaint Filed by Father

According to the police, Tariq Mahmood, a resident of Chak No. 119-JB Rasoolpur, lodged a complaint with Razabad police. He alleged that his 27-year-old daughter, Nida Tariq, was expecting her third child after giving birth to two sons following her marriage in March 2022. The woman was admitted to the hospital in Marzi Pura on April 15 for delivery.

Allegations of Negligence

The complainant alleged that a surgery was carried out the following day in an unhygienic operation theatre. He claimed that negligence and the alleged incompetence of the doctor and hospital staff had led to complications during the procedure, resulting in the death of the newborn girl. The mother also succumbed to complications post-surgery.

Police Action

Razabad police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code against the lady doctor and hospital management.
