Attack in Chak 253-RB, Islam Nagar
A domestic dispute turned violent in Faisalabad when a man allegedly opened fire on his sister-in-law and threw acid on his wife and her two-year-old niece, injuring all three before fleeing the scene. Police later arrested the suspect within 24 hours and said the incident occurred in Chak 253-RB, Islam Nagar, within the jurisdiction of Roshanwala Police Station.
Background of the Dispute
The complainant, Shagufta Parveen, stated that her daughter Sonia had married Ali Haider, a resident of Kot Momin, Sargodha, four months ago. She later discovered that her husband was already married and returned to her parents' home after a dispute. The FIR states that Ali Haider arrived at the family's residence in the early hours of Thursday to meet his wife.
Sequence of Violence
When Sonia's 29-year-old sister, Sana, prevented him from entering, he allegedly shot her with a pistol, injuring her. He then allegedly threw acid at Sonia and her two-year-old niece, Kanza, causing burn injuries to various parts of their bodies. Family members rushed to the scene after hearing screams and intervened, preventing further violence. The suspect reportedly fled while firing into the air and issuing death threats.
Police Response and Investigation
The injured women and child were shifted to hospital for treatment. Senior police officers, including SP Iqbal Town Chaudhry Saeed Ahmed and DSP Factory Area Waseem Faraz, visited the crime scene. Roshanwala police registered a case against Ali Haider under sections relating to attempted murder and acid attack. According to police, the suspect was arrested within 24 hours of the incident.
