FAISALABAD: On the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order visited Faisalabad to review security and administrative arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. An important meeting was held in this regard, chaired by Provincial Minister for Health and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee, Khawaja Salman Rafique.
Provincial Ministers Bilal Yaseen, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bherth, and Bilal Akbar Khan also attended the meeting. Secretary Auqaf Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial, Additional IG Imran Arshad, and Chief Coordinator PFTIC Brigadier Asjad Ali were also present.
Commissioner Faisalabad Musarat Jabeen and Regional Police Officer Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira provided a detailed briefing to the committee regarding security and administrative measures for Muharram-ul-Haram. The committee was informed that a total of 4,402 Majalis and 1,528 processions will be held across Faisalabad Division during Muharram, and all necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure their peaceful conduct.
The briefing further revealed that orders have been issued for the district restriction of 166 inflammatory speakers and religious orators, while speaking restrictions have been imposed on 116 individuals. In addition, 328 individuals have been placed on the Fourth Schedule in Faisalabad Division.
Under the security plan, protection is being provided to 10,707 mosques, 653 Imambargahs, and 1,576 seminaries across the division. To support the police in maintaining law and order, 12 companies of the Pakistan Army and 10 companies of Rangers will also be deployed.
