Sindh Governor and US Consul General Hold Talks on Bilateral Relations and Regional Stability
In a significant diplomatic engagement, the Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, met with US Consul General Charles Goodman at the Governor House in Karachi on Friday. The meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan–U.S. relations and addressing matters of mutual interest, with both sides expressing a commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
Discussions on Geopolitical Situation and Peace Initiatives
During the talks, detailed conversations were held regarding the region's geopolitical situation, with an emphasis on promoting peace and stability. Governor Hashmi reiterated Pakistan's consistent policy, which is rooted in dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution of conflicts. The Governor highlighted the vast opportunities for U.S. investment in Karachi, pointing to the city's potential as a hub for economic growth. Governor Hashmi noted that under the Prime Minister's Youth Program, modern training is being provided to young people in over 200 fields, aiming to equip the youth with skills for future opportunities.
US Consul General Charles Goodman appreciated the efforts of Pakistan's leadership, including the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in promoting peace. He stated that the United States values these initiatives and is committed to supporting stability in the region. The Consul General also mentioned the sister city relationship between Karachi and Houston, emphasizing the potential for enhanced trade and economic ties.

In a related development, it was noted that Sindh has made a licence test mandatory for teachers' recruitment, underscoring ongoing efforts in educational reforms. Meanwhile, a separate incident in Karachi resulted in two individuals injured when a speedy dumper hit a motorbike, highlighting local safety concerns.
