Four Lahore Police Officials Suspended After Viral Video

Four police officials in Lahore have been suspended after a video allegedly showing them engaging in corrupt practices near Shanghai Bridge went viral on social media. The Lahore Police took immediate action following the emergence of the footage.

SSP Orders Suspension and Inquiry

According to a police spokesperson, SSP Operations Lahore Tauqeer Naeem took notice of the incident and ordered the suspension of constables Imran, Sikandar, Qais, and Amjad, who were all posted at the Factory Area police station. The officials have been suspended pending an inquiry.

The SSP stated that a departmental investigation had been initiated to ascertain the authenticity of the viral video and examine the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred on the night between July 9 and 10. He emphasized that strict legal and departmental action would be taken against the officials if the allegations were proven during the inquiry.

Zero-Tolerance Policy Towards Corruption

Tauqeer Naeem reiterated that the Lahore Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and abuse of authority. He added that the misconduct of any individual officer tarnishes the reputation of the entire force. The SSP stressed that negligence, corruption, and misuse of powers would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He further noted that accountability would be enforced without discrimination to safeguard public trust in the police force. The investigation is ongoing, and further actions will be determined based on the findings.
