India has designated senior diplomat Satyanjal Pandey as its next chargé d'affaires in Pakistan as part of a routine diplomatic transition at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. According to diplomatic sources, Pakistani authorities have approved the appointment, clearing the way for Dr Pandey to assume his new responsibilities in the coming weeks.
Dr Pandey is currently serving as India's deputy high commissioner in Sri Lanka and is expected to move to Islamabad shortly to take up the assignment. He will succeed Geetika Srivastava, who has completed her tenure in Pakistan and is set to return to India after overseeing the mission during a notable phase in bilateral relations.
Officials said the appointment is part of the regular rotation process within India's diplomatic service and reflects ongoing administrative changes in its foreign missions abroad. Upon assuming office, Dr Pandey will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Indian mission and represent New Delhi's diplomatic interests in Pakistan.
Sources familiar with the development said all required formalities and clearances have been completed, with arrangements underway for his arrival in Islamabad. The transition is expected to be smooth, ensuring continuity in diplomatic engagements between the two neighboring countries.
