Ali Qasim Gilani Credits Bhutto's Nuclear Vision for Pakistan's Sovereignty
Gilani: Bhutto's Nuclear Legacy Secures Pakistan

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Ali Qasim Gilani has declared that the nation's nuclear and missile strength, a foundational project initiated by former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, remains the ultimate guarantor of Pakistan's security and sovereign integrity.

Nuclear Deterrent: A Shield Against Aggression

Addressing a significant gathering on Monday at the PPP's Johar Town office in Lahore, the Member of the National Assembly asserted that this formidable capability means no external power now dares to cast an evil eye towards Pakistan. He painted a stark picture of an alternative reality, suggesting that without the nuclear shield, the country's leadership could be vulnerable to the kind of threats and abductions witnessed in other volatile regions of the world.

"Had Pakistan not become a nuclear power, its leadership could have faced threats similar to those witnessed in other parts of the world," Gilani stated. He emphasized, "If Pakistan were not a nuclear state, anyone could have dared to abduct our president as well. Bhutto’s nuclear and missile technology has made Pakistan safe."

Celebrating Bhutto's Legacy in Lahore

The occasion was a rally organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of the PPP's founder, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The event, coordinated by party leaders Faisal Mir and Majeed Ghori, commenced from Thokar Niaz Baig and culminated at the Johar Town office with a large public meeting.

The rally witnessed robust participation from party workers who traveled in a convoy of cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws, all adorned with PPP flags. The air was filled with resonant chants of "Jiye Bhutto," and participants expressed their enthusiasm through bhangra dances along the route. The procession received a warm reception at key points including Canal View and near Mughal Eye Hospital before reaching its final destination.

Defending Democracy and Announcing Future Plans

In his speech, Gilani extended gratitude to the organizers for a successful event. He expanded on Bhutto's contributions, crediting him not only for a strong defence framework but also for the 1973 Constitution and empowering the common citizen through voting rights. "Before 1973, the common man did not enjoy the same voting rights. The younger generation must safeguard this sacred trust," he reminded the audience.

Gilani also highlighted Bhutto's unparalleled role in advocating for the Kashmir cause. He made a significant announcement, stating that the PPP, alongside the people of Lahore, will hold a major gathering on February 5 to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Concluding on a forward-looking note, the PPP MNA expressed optimism that party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would soon address a major public meeting in Lahore, signaling continued political engagement in the provincial capital.
