More than 1,080 police officers and personnel have been deployed across Bahawalpur district to ensure security during 10th Muharram processions and religious gatherings, police officials said on Thursday.
Security Arrangements for 9th and 10th Muharram
According to a statement issued by the District Police Office, a total of 30 processions and 77 Majalis were scheduled to be held across the district on 9th Muharram. Police officials said one procession and one Majlis have been placed in Category A, while two Majalis fall under Category B. The remaining processions and gatherings have been categorized as Category C based on security assessments.
Comprehensive Security Measures
The district police have implemented comprehensive security measures, including strict monitoring, checking and surveillance at all venues and procession routes. Officials said security arrangements are being continuously reviewed to ensure the safety of participants and maintain law and order.
Police have also set up checkpoints and deployed quick response teams to handle any emergencies. The deployment includes personnel from various branches, including traffic police, and special units. The security plan was formulated after consultations with religious leaders and community representatives to ensure smooth conduct of the events.
