Mourning processions are being held in cities and towns across the country to mark Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th day of Muharram-ul-Haram. Ulema and Zakireen are delivering sermons highlighting the noble teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and shedding light on different aspects of the tragedy of Karbala. Alam, Taazia and Zuljanah processions are also being taken out to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala and remember their unparalleled sacrifice for Islam.
Security Arrangements Tightened
Strict security arrangements have been put in place to prevent any untoward incident during Muharram-ul-Haram. More than 4,000 officers and personnel of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have been deployed across the federal capital to ensure security on Youm-e-Ashur. Senior police officers also visited various Imambargahs and procession routes to personally review security and traffic arrangements.
DIG Safe City/Traffic Muhammad Haroon Joiya, DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and DIG Security Rana Umar Farooq inspected different Imambargahs to assess the security measures. Meanwhile, AIG Logistics Abdul Haq Umrani, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza and Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan remained in the field, closely supervising security and traffic management throughout the day.
Earthquake Strikes Balochistan
In a separate incident, an earthquake struck Balochistan, with tremors felt in Sibi and Kohlu. No casualties or damage have been reported so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation.
