RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan's sisters and party leaders were once again denied permission to meet the former prime minister in Adiala Jail on Tuesday.
Aleema Khan's Statement
Speaking to the media at the Adiala Road factory checkpoint in Rawalpindi, Aleema Khan, Imran Khan's sister, revealed that only five meetings had been allowed over the past five months. She expressed growing public anger over what she described as mistreatment and injustice against the PTI leader.
Aleema emphasized that Imran Khan remains the leader of Pakistan's largest political party and argued that the country urgently needs his leadership to address mounting political, economic, and security challenges.
Political Implications
The denial of meetings has sparked criticism from PTI supporters, who view it as a continuation of what they call political victimization. The party has consistently demanded better access to their leader, who has been incarcerated since August 2023 on multiple charges.
Observers note that the restrictions on visits could further inflame political tensions in the country, especially as PTI prepares for upcoming elections and legal battles.
