Rawalpindi Police have developed a special application for identification and scanning purposes. Through the app, the criminal record of any individual, if available, can be checked instantly by scanning their national identity card. The application will also automatically store the data and photograph of every individual whose CNIC is examined.
Deployment During Ashura
According to sources, the checking process is continuing across the district through the application on the occasion of Ashura. To ensure security in Rawalpindi, the police IT department, under the supervision of CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani, developed the software. Sources said the app is more advanced than the existing system through which criminal records could be checked by entering a CNIC number. The new application includes several additional features.
Instant Criminal Record Display
According to sources, once a citizen's identity card is scanned, the system immediately displays any criminal record or pending case linked to that individual. The application can also assist in identifying Afghan nationals. Any entry made into the system automatically stores the citizen's photograph and complete record, enabling Rawalpindi Police to build a comprehensive database.
Security Checkpoints and Bus Terminals
Police sources said scanning through the application is being carried out at entry checkpoints and bus terminals. The app is also being used to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order during Ashura. The software represents a significant upgrade over previous methods, providing real-time data access and automated record-keeping to aid law enforcement efforts.
