China Reaffirms CPEC 2.0, $25.9B Investment in Pakistan

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong on Monday reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to deepening strategic cooperation with Pakistan and upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to its "2.0 version," focusing on agriculture, industry and mining.

CPEC Achievements Highlighted

Addressing a seminar on the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) and CPEC, the ambassador said the corridor had brought over $25.9 billion in direct investment to Pakistan, created more than 260,000 jobs, added over 8,000 megawatts of power generation capacity and significantly improved the country's infrastructure.

Future Projects and Welfare Initiatives

He said China and Pakistan would continue work on major projects, including the Karakoram Highway Phase-II realignment, while expanding "small yet beautiful" welfare initiatives aimed at improving education and water facilities, particularly in Balochistan.

75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

Highlighting the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Jiang said China was ready to work with Pakistan to further strengthen their all-weather strategic partnership and build an even closer community with a shared future.

Multilateralism and Global Governance

The ambassador also stressed the importance of multilateralism and closer coordination between the two countries on regional and international issues, saying China and Pakistan would continue to support reforms in global governance.
