Three Dead in Suspected Honour Killing in Upper Dir

At least three people, including a married couple, were shot dead in a suspected honour killing in the remote Gandigar area of Upper Dir on Monday night, according to police.

Details of the Incident

According to local police, unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire with automatic weapons on a vehicle, killing the three victims on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Akhtar Syed (40), son of Habib Gul; his wife Uzma Bibi (30); and Wahidullah (32), son of Sarfaraz Khan.

Victims' Background

Police reported that Akhtar Syed and Uzma Bibi were originally residents of the Aligarkor area in Ushari and were currently residing in Gandigar. The third victim, Wahidullah, hailed from the Samarbagh locality of Lower Dir.

Investigation Underway

Police stated that the triple murder is apparently suspected as an honour killing, and the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained. The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Dir for post-mortem examination.

An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified assailants, and further investigation into the case has been initiated.
