In a significant move to bolster educational accessibility, the Sindh government has allocated five new buses for colleges in the Larkana district. This initiative, realized on Tuesday, is set to benefit thousands of students from five institutions, comprising three girls' and two boys' colleges, by easing their commute.
Ceremony Marks a New Chapter for Student Mobility
A formal handover ceremony was organized by the Directorate of Regional Colleges at the Government Girls Degree College in Larkana. The event saw the presence of notable figures including Chairman District Council Larkana, Ijaz Ahmed Leghari, and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister, Khair Mohammad Sheikh. Key officials from the education department, such as Director Regional Colleges Larkana, Professor Altaf Hussain Abro, and principals of the beneficiary colleges, also graced the occasion alongside a large gathering of female students.
Buses Handed Over to College Principals
During the ceremony, the new buses were officially handed over to the principals of the five colleges. The recipients were:
- Principal of Government Arts and Commerce College Larkana, Professor Rizwan Gul
- Principal of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto College of Education Larkana, Fatima Jamali
- Principal of Government Girls Degree College Ratodero, Professor Razia Soomro
- Principal of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Girls Degree College Naundero, Saduran Solangi
- Principal of Government Girls Degree College Badah, Shakeelan Solangi
A Vision for Easier Access to Education
In their addresses, Chairman Ijaz Ahmed Leghari and other speakers highlighted that this provision of five buses, valued at 10 crore rupees, was made possible through the efforts of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, MPA Faryal Talpur, and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. They emphasized that the primary goal is to enable students from remote areas to attend nearby colleges without the burden of high travel costs.
The new buses are expected to significantly increase student enrollment by providing a reliable and free transportation service. Students will no longer need to pay exorbitant fares or rents, as these buses will pick them up from their doorsteps, ensuring they can pursue their education without any logistical hassles.
