The administration in Islamabad has declared a local holiday for the federal capital on Friday, December 26, 2025. This decision comes in light of the high-profile official visit of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Official Notification and Clarification

According to a formal notification released by the Islamabad district administration, a local holiday will be observed within the limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on December 26. The notification specified that federal government offices, including the Federal Secretariat, and district institutions providing essential services would continue their operations as usual.

Subsequently, the Cabinet Division issued a clarifying notification to avoid any confusion. It confirmed that all federal government departments, attached institutions, and the Federal Secretariat would remain fully functional. Federal employees will not be granted a holiday and are expected to attend work normally.

The Foreign Office had earlier announced the landmark visit. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, will undertake his first official visit to Pakistan on December 26, 2025. The visit is happening upon the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
