Islamabad Police Arrest Two Gang Members, Recover Stolen Bikes and Weapons

In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have successfully apprehended two wanted members of criminal gangs involved in bike lifting and snatching incidents. The arrests were made during targeted operations conducted by police teams from Shams Colony and Tarnol police stations, utilizing both technical and human resources to track down the suspects.

According to an official statement provided to APP on Thursday, the accused individuals were identified as members of notorious gangs that have been actively involved in multiple incidents of motorcycle theft and street crime across the federal capital. The police operations led to the recovery of three stolen motorbikes, along with mobile phones and weapons, including ammunition, from the possession of the arrested suspects.

Strict Action Against Street Crime

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, emphasized that strict action is being taken against those involved in motorcycle theft and street robbery in the city. He highlighted that as a result of continuous and coordinated police operations, a noticeable decline has been observed in incidents of bike lifting and other street crimes, contributing to enhanced public safety.

DIG Tariq further directed all police officers to maintain the momentum of the crackdown against criminal elements, ensuring that those involved in such illegal activities are swiftly brought to justice. This directive underscores the police department's commitment to curbing crime and maintaining law and order in Islamabad.

Ongoing Investigations and Legal Proceedings

Cases have already been registered against the nabbed accused, and further investigation is currently underway to uncover additional details and potential links to other criminal activities. The recovery of stolen property and weapons is expected to aid in building strong cases against the suspects, potentially leading to convictions and deterring future crimes.

The successful operations demonstrate the effectiveness of the ICT Police's strategies in combating organized crime, particularly in urban areas where bike lifting and snatching have been persistent issues. By leveraging advanced resources and targeted approaches, the police aim to create a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.
