JI Condemns Armed Land Grab Attempt in Karachi, Demands Action
JI Demands Probe into Karachi Land Grab by Fake Lawyers

Jamaat-e-Islami's Karachi leadership has raised a serious alarm over a recent armed attempt to seize a house in the city, alleging that individuals posing as lawyers are misusing their professional identity for unlawful land grabbing activities.

Armed Attack Foiled by Residents and Local Leaders

The incident unfolded in Block 13-D/1 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, where more than 50 armed individuals allegedly stormed a residential property. According to JI Karachi chief, Monem Zafar Khan, the attackers opened fire and tried to occupy the house. He claimed the attempt was backed by police support.

Thankfully, the brazen attack was foiled by the timely intervention of local Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and vigilant area residents, who stood their ground against the perpetrators.

JI Leaders Demand Immediate and Transparent Investigation

At a press conference, Monem Zafar Khan, accompanied by Opposition Leader Advocate Saifuddin and Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Chairman Dr. Fawad Ahmed, strongly condemned the event.

He issued a direct appeal to the Sindh Chief Minister, Home Minister, DIG, and SSP, demanding an immediate and transparent investigation into the matter. "All armed attackers must be arrested without delay, and those responsible for facilitating this act — including their patrons — must be brought within the full grip of the law," he stated firmly.

The JI leader also demanded strict action against what he described as "negligent police officials" involved in the incident.

Call for Action Against Fake Lawyers and Land Mafia

Expressing deep concern, Mr. Khan highlighted that this is not an isolated event but part of a larger pattern of land grabbing across Karachi. He stated that forged documents and fraudulent files are commonly used to forcibly occupy plots and homes in various areas, including Clifton, Shah Latif, North Nazimabad, and Scheme 33.

He alleged that these illegal operations continue under government patronage. A key point of his address was the appeal to the legal fraternity. "We also appeal Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and Sindh Bar Council (SBC) to look into the case and revoke their licences if some lawyers are involved in the attempted occupation. We also appeal them to initiate firm disciplinary proceedings against them," he added, urging self-policing within the profession.
