Condemnation and Details of the Attack

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, expressed profound grief over the incident in the Gorgorai area. One Assistant Sub-Inspector and five police personnel embraced martyrdom during the patrol-time assault. He stated that the sacrifice of these officers deserves the strongest condemnation and that such acts of terror will not weaken the government's resolve.

Echoing the sentiment, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi also denounced the attack in the Guragri area as a highly condemnable, inhuman, and cowardly act. He paid rich tribute to the martyrs, emphasizing that attacks on law enforcement are direct attacks on peace itself, and assured that the nation stands with the bereaved families.

Concrete Steps for Lasting Peace

Highlighting the provincial government's commitment, Shafi Jan outlined significant measures under Chief Minister Sohail Afridi's leadership to restore peace and enhance police capacity. In a major financial move, the cabinet has approved a substantial package to strengthen key security institutions.

A Rs17 billion package has been approved for the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), with Rs7 billion released immediately. Furthermore, Rs14 billion has been approved for the Special Branch. These funds are earmarked for critical upgrades including the procurement of weapons and armored vehicles, recruitment of personnel, and the establishment of necessary offices.

A Unified Stand Against Terrorism

He mentioned that a Jirga convened in the KP Assembly, attended by political leaders and representatives from various schools of thought, resulted in a 15-point unanimous declaration for the restoration of peace, showcasing a collective will.

Governor Kundi reinforced this stance, vowing that the sacrifices of the police will not be in vain. He reiterated the firm resolve to eliminate all elements involved in terrorism and violence, ensuring that such cowardly attacks will be met with unwavering force and determination.
