Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamyana, has issued a stern warning against corruption and unlawful activities within the police force, declaring a policy of zero tolerance.
Zero Tolerance on Corruption and Security Directives
Presiding over a performance review meeting for the Iqbal Town and Saddar Divisions at the Capital City Police Headquarters, the CCPO stated that any form of corruption will not be tolerated and that strict action will be taken immediately upon receiving any complaint. The meeting involved a detailed review of crime control measures and the quality of investigations.
While expressing satisfaction over existing crime control efforts, CCPO Kamyana directed officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Sikh pilgrims arriving in the city to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
Crackdown on Illegal Residents and Hate Material
A significant part of the discussion focused on the repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan. The CCPO directed all relevant officers to accelerate the ongoing crackdown against illegal Afghan residents.
He issued a strong warning that legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in renting out houses, shops, or properties to such individuals. Furthermore, he instructed officials to ensure the strict implementation of the Tenancy Act and the Loudspeaker Act.
Emphasizing the need to maintain social harmony, he stated that the law would act promptly against the dissemination of any sort of hate material.
Action Against Aerial Firing and Public Awareness
CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana affirmed that indiscriminate action would be taken against those involved in aerial firing, one-wheeling, and other unlawful activities. He made it clear that in cases of aerial firing during wedding events, the hosts would be held accountable.
To combat this dangerous practice, he directed that public announcements be made from mosques to raise awareness about the severe dangers and legal consequences of aerial firing.
Concluding the meeting, the CCPO urged all officers to play a vigorous and proactive role in providing immediate relief and justice to the citizens of Lahore, reinforcing the police department's commitment to public service and law enforcement.
