In a significant move promoting interfaith harmony, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has given his official assurance that a Christmas Day celebration will be organized at the Governor House in Peshawar.
Meeting with Minority Community Delegation
The commitment was made during a meeting on Monday with a representative delegation from the minority community. The group, which was led by Jamil Bhatti and included members such as Lubna Taj and Farah Shahid, engaged in discussions with the Governor regarding their community's pressing concerns.
During the talks, the delegation formally requested the hosting of a Christmas programme at the Governor House. They also took the opportunity to highlight the significant challenges faced by minorities, with a particular focus on the sectors of education and health.
Governor's Reaffirmation of Minority Rights
Governor Kundi firmly reassured the delegation that the government is actively taking concrete steps to safeguard the rights of minorities and systematically address their problems. He emphasized the vital role the minority community plays in national development, stating that all necessary measures would be taken to resolve their issues.
He further added that minorities form a proud and integral part of Pakistani society, and their rights will be protected at every level of governance.
Other Key Engagements
In a separate meeting, Governor Kundi also met with a delegation from AquaTech Fisheries, led by its Chairman, Ahmad Hussain. Their discussions centered on initiatives aimed at strengthening the province's fisheries and aquaculture sector.
The AquaTech team outlined key opportunities to enhance the fisheries value chain, a move that is expected to generate employment, boost local production, and expand exports. They sought the Governor's support and coordination with relevant government departments to facilitate these initiatives. Governor Kundi welcomed the proposals and assured his full cooperation in promoting the growth of this vital sector across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Similarly, the Governor held a meeting with Syed Wajeeh-ul-Husnain, the Controller of Examinations at IM Sciences Peshawar. Their discussion focused on the academic challenges encountered by Pakistani students studying in foreign universities. Key topics included the evolving academic landscape, quality assurance, credit recognition, and establishing robust support mechanisms to help students successfully navigate international education systems.
Governor Kundi underscored the importance of addressing these academic hurdles, providing proper guidance, and strengthening support systems to ensure the success of Pakistani students abroad.
