The Bank of Punjab (BoP) Junior National Tennis Championship 2026 officially commenced in Lahore, bringing together the country's most promising young tennis players at the Sports Board Punjab Tennis Academy, Nishtar Park. The tournament, organised by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA), has attracted talented junior boys and girls from across Pakistan, offering a valuable platform for emerging players to showcase their skills and gain competitive experience at the national level.
Opening Ceremony Highlights
The opening ceremony was graced by Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Tariq Qureshi and Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Fazl ur Rehman as chief guests. They were joined by prominent figures from the tennis fraternity, including PLTA Senior Executive Vice President Rashid Malik (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), Director Administration SBP Zahoor Ahmad, Usman Taj, and Tournament Referee Faheem Siddiqui. A large gathering of players, coaches, parents, and media representatives witnessed the inauguration.
Addressing the participants, Rashid Malik extended his best wishes to the young players and urged them to compete with dedication, discipline, and passion. He encouraged the youngsters to make the most of the opportunity and strive to become future ambassadors of Pakistan tennis on the international stage.
Day One Results
The opening day featured impressive performances across various age-group categories. In the boys U-18 event, M Yahya, Ahmad Fareed Yawar, Umar Jawad, Shayan Afridi, Hamza Ali Rizwan, Rashid Ali Bachani, Ahmad Khuda Bakhsh, and Haziq Areejo advanced to the quarterfinals with convincing victories.
In the boys U-14 category, M Muaz of Fatima Group, Majid Ali Bachani, Salaar Khan, Behroze Maimoon, Shayan Afridi, M Faizan, Rashid Ali Bachani, and M Ayan secured their places in the quarterfinals after strong displays.
Meanwhile, in the boys U-12 competition, M Aayan, M Daniyal, Daniyal Abdullah, M Faizan, Wali Muhammad Hassaan, and Ashtar Alam Khan recorded impressive wins to move forward in the tournament.
