PU Approves Special Concession for AJK Applicants

The Admission Committee of the University of the Punjab convened under the chairmanship of Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem to address matters related to undergraduate admissions for the Academic Session 2026–27. The meeting focused on facilitating applicants from Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) who faced exceptional circumstances and missed the first admission test.

Special Concession for AJK Applicants

The Committee approved a special concession allowing AJK applicants who could not appear in the first admission test due to exceptional circumstances to sit for the second admission test without paying an additional fee. This decision aims to ensure that no deserving student is disadvantaged by unforeseen events.

Streamlining the Admission Process

The Committee reviewed the ongoing undergraduate admission process and directed all concerned offices to ensure timely completion of admission-related activities. Emphasis was placed on effective coordination for the smooth conduct of the admission process, ensuring that deadlines are met and procedures are followed efficiently.

Sub-Committee for International Students

To streamline admissions for international students, the Committee constituted a sub-committee tasked with preparing comprehensive procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for admissions against foreign reserved seats. This move is expected to clarify the process for international applicants and ensure transparency.

Exemption for Overseas Pakistanis

The Committee also approved an exemption from the University Pre-Admission Entry Test for applicants applying under the reserved quota for Children of Overseas Pakistanis. However, this exemption does not apply to programmes where relevant accreditation councils mandate the entry test as a compulsory requirement.

These decisions reflect the university's commitment to inclusivity and efficiency in its admission policies, accommodating the needs of diverse applicant groups while maintaining academic standards.
