Sindh Govt Completes Muharram Arrangements: Sharjeel Memon

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon stated on Wednesday that the Sindh government has finalized all necessary arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. Special measures have been implemented for procession routes in Hyderabad and across the province, while security has been further tightened.

Meetings with Religious Scholars and Organizers

Talking to media persons at Rawal House, Rahuki, the senior minister said that meetings had been held with religious scholars and organizers to finalize all arrangements for Muharram. He emphasized that both the Shia and Sunni communities organize religious observances during Muharram in Sindh with the same spirit.

Lessons from Karbala

Memon remarked that there is a need to learn lessons from the incident of Karbala, adding that people across Sindh, irrespective of sectarian affiliations, pay tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions. He said the Sindh government has made effective arrangements throughout the province, and the law and order situation remains satisfactory, with additional measures taken to ensure peace.

NFC Award and Budget

Commenting on the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, Memon said there had been no cut in the NFC share; the provinces had adjusted their shares according to priorities. He added that a reduced share would naturally result in a smaller development budget, while the Sindh government remains committed to public welfare initiatives. Criticizing the opposition, he said its members had not even read the budget document and had resorted to creating a disturbance before walking out of the assembly.

Infrastructure and Development Projects

Referring to infrastructure needs, Memon said that since imports and exports are handled through Karachi, a motorway from Karachi to Sukkur is essential. He expressed hope that commitments made in this regard would be fulfilled. He said the Sindh government is implementing development projects in various cities of the province. More than 3,000 kilometers of roads had already been constructed, while additional Pink Scooties would also be distributed. He added that the government is bringing 500 electric vehicles (EV) buses and that double-decker buses would also soon be introduced.

Power Supply and Road Conditions

The senior minister said efforts were being made to improve the power supply systems of HESCO and K-Electric. He remarked that the condition of the road from Hyderabad to Sukkur is so poor that one feels as though they would need to travel in an ambulance.

PTI Founder and Government Changes

Responding to a question about the possible release of the founder of PTI, Memon said he prayed for his release. When asked about reports of changes in the Sindh government, he said such discussions were circulating only on YouTube.
