Bilawal Bhutto Urges Global Climate Action

KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, stated on Friday that the battle against climate change is fundamentally a struggle for humanity, calling for unified global efforts to address one of the most pressing challenges of our time.

World Environment Day Message

In his message on World Environment Day, the PPP Chairman emphasized that recurring floods, droughts, heatwaves, water scarcity, and environmental degradation serve as painful reminders that climate change is no longer a distant threat but a harsh reality affecting millions of lives. "For countless families, climate change is not a debate or prediction; it is the loss of a home, a livelihood, a harvest, and, in many cases, a loved one," he said.

Climate Justice and Vulnerability

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari pointed out that Pakistan remains among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, despite contributing only a negligible share of global emissions. Calling for climate justice, he asserted that it is deeply unfair for nations least responsible for the crisis to bear its heaviest consequences. "Millions of people are paying with their lives, livelihoods, and futures for the emissions of wealthier nations," he added.

He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to climate resilience, renewable energy, environmental conservation, and the protection of natural resources.

"The Earth is a trust we hold for future generations," Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, adding, "Let us leave behind not a legacy of neglect and environmental destruction, but a future founded on hope, sustainability, justice, and harmony with nature."
