Saudi Arabia grants $150m fuel aid to Yemen for power plants

Saudi Arabia has pledged urgent assistance to Yemen in the form of petroleum derivatives valued at $150 million to help operate power stations across several Yemeni governorates. The support, announced on Wednesday, will be channeled through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) under the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with oversight from Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman.

Fuel Supply to Stabilize Electricity Grid

The program stated that the fuel will be used to maintain electricity supplies from power plants, thereby strengthening the stability of Yemen's electrical grid. Saudi officials emphasized that the aim of this assistance is to improve essential services, alleviate humanitarian suffering, and support economic and developmental activities in the country.

Continued Humanitarian Support

The Kingdom has a history of providing humanitarian and development aid to Yemen in recent years, including funding for projects in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and energy. This latest package underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the Yemeni people during their ongoing crisis.
