More than 1,500 police officers and jawans were deployed to perform security duties for 79 processions, including 10 of Category A and 13 of Category B, along with 244 gatherings across the district on 8 Muharram. SP Investigation Imran Abbas Chadhar supervised all gatherings and processions.
DPO Highlights Importance of Community Cooperation
DPO Sargodha stated that the cooperation of peace committees, scholars, and the business community was absolutely essential for the peaceful conduct of Muharram. He said that scholars of all schools of thought and members of the district peace committee were in full contact with the administration to maintain an atmosphere of religious harmony and brotherhood.
Security Measures for Foolproof Arrangements
To make the security foolproof, the procession routes were being searched and swept, while surveillance had been ensured through CCTV cameras and walk-through gates. The DPO further added that these measures were taken to ensure the safety of participants and the public.
