Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Karachi, Zubair Nazir Shaikh, conducted a comprehensive visit to Imam Bargahs, Majalis, and procession routes on Wednesday to review security arrangements for the 8th of Muharram al-Haram. The inspection covered Numaish Chowrangi, M.A. Jinnah Road, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, and adjoining areas, according to a spokesperson for the East Police district.
Security Measures and Personnel Deployment
SSP East evaluated the security measures, personnel deployment, and surveillance systems in place to ensure the safety of participants in processions and Majalis. He issued directives to the concerned Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) to ensure effective implementation of the security plan, remain vigilant, and utilize all available resources to protect the lives and property of the public.
Commitment to Law and Order
SSP East reiterated the resolve of the East Police to take all possible measures to maintain law and order and provide a secure environment for mourners during Muharram al-Haram. The visit underscores the police's commitment to ensuring peaceful observances amid heightened security concerns.
Provincial Budget Approval
In a separate development, the Punjab Assembly approved demands for grants amounting to Rs270.5 billion, with the government defending the budget. This financial allocation is expected to support various provincial initiatives, including public safety and infrastructure projects.
