Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Abdul Haleem Jagirani chaired a crucial meeting of the District Coordination Committee for the Apex Committee on Wednesday in his office, focusing on law and order and key administrative decisions.
Key Decisions on Security and Regulation
The meeting reviewed the overall law and order situation in the district and made several important decisions. These included ensuring the security of Chinese engineers, foreign experts and their workplaces associated with CPEC and non-CPEC projects. The committee also decided to register madaris (religious seminaries) and ensure the sale of petroleum products at officially notified prices.
Action against petrol pumps involved in illegal practices, substandard fuel sales or short measurement was ordered. The meeting also focused on monitoring the prices of commodities and other food items, with strict action against profiteers involved in price hiking.
Anti-Encroachment and Anti-Narcotics Measures
The committee decided to remove encroachments from grazing lands, government land, major intersections and roads in urban areas. Curbing narcotics and other intoxicating substances was also a priority, along with taking action against non-custom-paid vehicles, illegal cigarettes and other prohibited goods.
Regular inspections of brick kilns were ordered, and identifying foreign or unregistered workers for legal action was emphasized. The meeting also mandated daily action against traffic violations, overloading and overcharging of transport fares.
Strict Action Against Electricity Theft and Social Evils
The committee directed launching strict action against electricity theft, professional beggars, child labor and human trafficking. These measures aim to improve governance and public safety in the district.
DC Directs Implementation and Monitoring
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Jagirani said that the purpose of the meeting was to ensure effective and immediate implementation of the decisions made by Apex Committees at the provincial and district levels. He directed all assistant commissioners of the district to ensure the implementation of the decisions taken during the meeting within their respective jurisdictions.
He further instructed that warehouses of traders should be inspected, complete details of available stock should be obtained and reports on actions taken so far should also be submitted. During the meeting, officers of all relevant departments presented detailed briefings regarding the actions and measures taken by their concerned departments.
