Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have apprehended 2,924 suspects, including 1,668 proclaimed offenders, during the first four months of 2026 as part of a major crackdown against criminal elements. Large quantities of drugs and illegal weapons were recovered during these operations.
An official informed APP on Sunday that 1,256 accused were arrested for illegal arms possession, display of weapons, and drug trafficking. In indiscriminate operations targeting narcotics dealers, police arrested 538 drug peddlers.
The official stated that from the arrested suspects, police recovered 94 kilograms of hashish, over 64 kilograms of heroin, 52 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), and 2,342 bottles of liquor. In cases related to illegal arms, 718 accused were arrested during the same period.
This extensive operation underscores the police force's commitment to maintaining law and order in the capital territory. The recovery of such substantial quantities of narcotics and illegal weapons highlights the effectiveness of the ongoing crackdown.
